For its 17th season, premiering on CBS tonight Sept. 25, Survivor returns to Africa. This year, the openly gay contestant is a 29-year-old lawyer from the northeast, Charlie Herschel. He’s been a fan of the show since the first season and has been training for it ever since. Charlie said: "Everyone in my life knows that I’m a super, super-duper fan... I’m not used to being around people who aren’t used to being around diversity. So I think that’s going to be a big challenge for me. I might be the first gay person that a lot of people meet...
