You Got To Give Them Hope, Harvey Milk

Harvey Milk was the first openly-gay person to be elected to public office in the US in 1977. His most recognized speech, "You Cannot Live On Hope Alone," was given in 1978, shortly before he was assassinated. Google take a stand against Proposition 8

Google co-founder & President of Technology, Sergey Brin, announced the company's position on its blog. Google, which celebrate its 10th birthday, unusually take stands on social issues, Brin said that "it is the chilling and discriminatory effect of the proposition on many of our employees that brings Google to publicly oppose Proposition 8. While we respect the strongly-held beliefs that people have on both sides of this argument, we see this fundamentally as an issue of equality. We hope that California voters will vote no on Proposition 8, we should not eliminate anyone's fundamental rights, whatever their sexuality, to marry the person they love." The statement did not mention if Google will make any donation to the campaign.
