Security Update 20006-008

Apple has just released Security Update 20006-008, which is recommended for all users and improves the security. This update patches a security vulnerability that could affect Quartz Composer and QuickTime for Java (not prior to Mac OS X 10.4 said Apple).
"Java applets may use QuickTime for Java to obtain the images rendered on screen by embedded QuickTime objects and upload them to the originating web site," Apple explained. "When this facility is used in conjunction with Quartz Composer, it becomes possible to capture images that may contain local information."
The update is available via your Software Update or at Apple .

Photocasting with iPhoto 6

Photocasting: a fantastic new way to share. Imagine sending an album of favorite photos to the family, and having it change automatically on their computers when you update it on yours. That’s what Photocasting is all about. And it’s amazingly easy. Just create a Photocast album in iPhoto and publish it to .Mac (password-protected, if you wish). When Cousin Cindy subscribes, she’ll see it in her iPhoto library just as you see it in yours — with full-resolution photos that can be used for desktop pictures, printed albums, cards, and calendars. And whenever you add or subtract to your Photocast album, it will change in hers. Even people with PCs can enjoy an iPhoto Photocast, because all it takes is an RSS news reader to subscribe.

Jonathan Ive, Apple Designer

London born designer Jonathan Ive is the senior vice president of Industrial Design at Apple, reporting directly to the CEO, Steve Jobs. Since 1996 he has been responsible for leading a design team widely regarded as one of the world’s best. Jobs and Ive worked together on the iMac's launch in 1998. "It's a shocking statement for a CEO to say publicly, as Steve has, that the goal of a company isn't to make money, it's to make great products," Ive said. Recognized with numerous design awards, Apple products have become celebrated design icons featured in the permanent collections of museums worldwide including MOMA in New York and the Pompidou in Paris.
Ive has been awarded a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) by The Queen. The award recognizes Ive's international achievement in the field of industrial design, having led the team responsible for the design of groundbreaking products such as the iMac, iBook, Powerbook and iPod at Apple.

Move All Your Stuff to a New Mac

In the past, if you bought a new Mac, moving all your files, music, photos, and well...everything from your old Mac to your new Mac was quite a production.
Well, in Tiger, that’s all a thing of the past. Now, when it’s time to make the “big move,” just connect the two Macs with a FireWire cable, then go to your new Mac and look inside the Applications folder, then go to the Utilities folder, where you’ll find an application called Migration Assistant. Double-click on it and since it’s an assistant, it will lead you through a series of screens with questions about what you want to do.

2007, most exciting year ever

Apple shipped 1,610,000 Macintosh® computers and 8,729,000 iPods during the quarter, representing 30 percent growth in Macs and 35 percent growth in iPods over the year-ago quarter. "This strong quarter caps an extraordinary year for Apple. Selling more than 39 million iPods and 5.3 million Macs while performing an incredibly complex architecture transition is something we are all very proud of,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “Looking forward, 2007 is likely to be one of the most exciting new product years in Apple’s history.”
