In an interview with Esquire magazine George Clooney joked about reports that he was "gay, gay, gay." The actor answered: "No, I’m gay, gay. The third gay – that was pushing it." He also laughed off Donald Trumps comments about his height. The Celebrity Apprentice boss called Clooney, who is five eleven, a "tiny guy" while on Larry King Live. The 46-year-old actor took it all in stride and told Esquire, "I saw Donald Trump on Larry King and he was saying, ‘Clooney is a very short guy. I mean he is a tiny guy.’ I’ve met Donald Trump once, and I was sitting at a table. He came over, shook my hand, and walked away. I guess I looked about three foot five sitting at that table."

In an ad running today in the Daily Variety, George Clooney and Brad Pitt are being asked by "SaveTheBoom" to help saving a Laguna Beach Gay Bar, The Boom Boom Room. A major destination for the Southern California gay community since the 1940s, the popular Californian gay bar was sold to a Beverly Hills billionaire two years ago. At that time, Pitt & Clooney were incorrectly labeled as co-investors in the bar, whose rightful owners were planning on turning into an oceanfront hotel.
SaveTheBoom, was founded by Laguna Beach resident Fred Karger in 2006 to fight to proposed demolition of the Boom Boom Room. The ad headlines “George and Brad, Please Help SAVE the BOOM!!!” and goes on to ask the superstars, “Now we are appealing to both of you to buy our 60 year old landmark before it is converted into a boutique hotel... Both of you are true leaders in human and civil rights. Over 100 years of gay history that the Boom represents is a stake in Laguna Beach.”

Stars raise Money at Cannes AIDS Benefit

Sharon Stone, Kylie Minogue, Matt Damon & George Clooney were among the stars who came out to support the fight against AIDS on Wednesday night at amfAR's 14th Cinema Against AIDS gala in Cannes. The evening opened with Sharon Stone, Chairman of amfAR’s Campaign for AIDS Research, kicking off the record-breaking live auction by selling two of the Louis Vuitton vanity cases she designed for $95,000 each. Then, the Ocean’s 13 cast came to the stage to help auction two vacation packages for a total of $700,000. George Clooney boosted the package’s value by adding a kiss which he gave to the lucky winner at the end of bidding. Kylie Minogue was moved to give an impromptu performance of Locomotion and Can’t Get You Out of My Head after guests bid $300,000 for the chance to see her perform. The annual benefit soiree on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival raised $7 million for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR).

Obama, 1st step in Presidential bid

Illinois Democrat Senator Barack Obama said on his website that he'll be filing papers today to create a presidential exploratory committee to run for the Democratic nomination for 2008 U.S. presidential election. "I certainly didn't expect to find myself in this position a year ago. But as I've spoken to many of you in my travels across the states these past months... I've been struck by how hungry we all are for a different kind of politics," he said. According to recent polls, Obama, 45-year-old and New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton would be the favored potential presidential candidates among Democrats. Watch Obama's message
Barack Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961 to a Kenyan black father and a white mother from Kansas, he graduated from Harvard Law School where he was the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review. In 2005, Senator of Illinois Obama said he opposed an amendment to ban gay marriage because the Constitution historically has expanded, rather than taken away, people's rights. He commended state lawmakers on passing a human rights act - of which he was a chief sponsor - that prohibits discrimination based on sexual orientation. Obama also said the divisive debate over gay marriage as been framed in the wrong way, pegging people with "moral values or no values." Instead, he said, there should be a focus on where values such as tradition, family and faith overlap with tolerance and diversity and "can move the conversation forward."

Last year, during a conference about the situation in Darfur, George Clooney declared “I think Senator Obama should be president! I'm a huge fan of the guy's. I wish he would run in 2008. I really wish he would... I haven't talked to him about it, this is just me, it's my wish list!”
