Elton-Hillary: One Night Only. Elton John performed a benefit concert for Hillary Clinton at Radio City Music Hall in New York on Wednesday night. "I never cease to be amazed at the misogynistic attitude of some of the people of this country, and I say to hell with it," said the openly gay artist. "I love you, Hillary, and I'll be there for you just like all the times you were there for me. Hillary should be the next President of America." Clinton introduced John as "a friend of Bill's and mine for many years," and recalled how moved she was when she heard him perform "Candle in the Wind" at Princess Diana's funeral. "What I want you to know is, I'm still standing," she said. Sir Elton John has long been a Democratic supporter. In 2000, he helped Al Gore raise money with a concert where he declared, "I think you're going to win it, baby."

Elton John fights Homophobia

In The Statesman, Elton John has released a statement against homophobia. "There has been substantial progress on gay rights in Britain, but we can't be complacent, not when homophobia still exists here and not when people around the world live in fear solely because of their sexuality... In some European countries, the bigots have a loud voice and they're not being shouted down. Pride marches are still banned in some cities in eastern Europe; gay people in Latvia were attacked and spat at when they tried to march last year... This month I celebrate my 60th birthday. It is 40 years since the decriminalisation of homosexuality in the UK, and yet it is still sadly outlawed in many parts of the world. I want to shine a spotlight on William Hernández, his colleagues and the many, many individuals who stand up for human rights around the world, at great risk to their personal safety. People like William are a lot braver than me, because when the bigots shout abuse, he shouts back at them. And the more visible he and others are, the louder their voices become. Eventually, with support, they'll shout the bigots down."
"So, today, I shout out to William, a brave guy doing a dangerous and vital job. My voice has served me pretty well over the years; I hope maybe it can do him some good, too. But we need more voices. Whether the bigot is in our local pub or a thousand miles away, we should all stand up and speak out for basic human rights. I want to ask you, today, to add your voice."

Tobago & Trinidad fear Gay Stars

Philip Isaac, Archdeacon of Trinidad and Tobago Church is trying to ban Elton John from the Caribbean island because he is gay. "The artist is one of God's children and while his lifestyle is questionable he needs to be ministered unto. His visit to the island can open the country to be tempted towards pursuing his lifestyle," said Philip Isaac. Elton John is expected to perform at the Plymouth Jazz festival next month and organizers said the star would perform as scheduled.
It is thought that no one has ever actually been turned away at immigration because of their sexuality but, apparently, under the country’s laws, homosexuals can be barred from entering the country!!

Mika, Pop Singer-Songwriter

Mika may not be worldwide famous yet but he'll be very soon. His debut single Relax Take It Easy, remixed by Moran & Rigg has already hit the best dancefloors and his "Queenest" new single, Grace Kelly is already available for download on iTunes. The 23-year old talented pop singer was born in Beirut, raised in Paris and then in London where he says he was "completely tortured"... "I was called the typical fag and all those other homophobic, horrible little comments that kids throw at each other. But it wasn’t just that. Sometimes my hair was way too long. I was tubbier then, so they would say I had child-bearing hips,” he said to The Times. His songs reminds sometimes gay icons Freddie Mercury, George Michael or Scissor Sisters but he admits himself being inspired by artists such as Prince or Elton John. His first album, Life In Cartoon Motion will be released on February 5th. Watch Mika's Grace Kelly video

It’s A Boy Girl Thing Premiere

Geri Halliwell, Sting, Sharon and Kelly Osbourne, Graham Norton, Girls Aloud stars Cheryl Cole & Nicole Roberts, were among the celebrities to support Elton John on Monday night in Leicester Square in London at the premiere of his film It’s A Boy Girl Thing, held in support of the Elton John Aids Foundation.

The pop star has also revealed that he might have a bigger role than simply performing at the concert in memory of Princess Diana organised by her sons, Princes William & Harry. “They said there might be a role for me doing the MC bit by linking it all together, which I don’t mind doing... The princes will choose all the acts and if I can help co-ordinate it I will.”

Produced by Elton John, directed by Nick Hurran and starring Kevin Zegers (pictures above, seen last year in Transamerica), Samaire Armstrong, Sharon Osbourne, Maury Chaykin and Mpho Koaho, It's a Boy Girl Thing is a high-jinx, romantic comedy about next-door neighbours who live worlds apart. Woody Deane the school hunk and Nell Bedworth the school geek, life-long sworn enemies, wake up one day to find themselves in a very strange place: each others bodies. In theaters on December 29 2006. Watch the trailer...

Prince William said: "We both wanted to put our stamp on it. We want it to represent exactly what our mother would have wanted and how she was... It's got to be the best birthday present she ever had. The main purpose is to celebrate and to have fun and to remember her in a fun way."

Australian PM slammed by Rock Stars

Elton John answered "up yours" when he was asked on Channel 7 network what he would say to Australian Prime Minister John Howard who, earlier this year, opposed gay marriage in Canberra. The star added he was unimpressed with the lack of Australian legislation to protect gay couples.
Howard doesn't seem to be famous rock stars' friend, he was already criticized this month by Bono during U2 Australian Tour promoting the Make Poverty History campaign: "He has also led your country to the bottom of the league table in terms of involvement with the world's most vulnerable populations" said the Irish singer.
