Shawn Pyfrom, Gay Andrew Van De Camp

At only 21, Shawn Pyfrom already has some fine ideas and ideals Starpulse reports. The young actor who plays the gay Andrew Van De Camp in "Desperate Housewives," speaks about his role: "The good thing about Andrew is that in Season 1 and 2 as a gay character, he was very strong and confident as to who he was. I think that could be encouraging for other young homosexuals to become more confident and comfortable with who they are. A lot of times gay characters can be portrayed as the flamboyant and weak stereotype. Andrew is sociopathic and narcissistic and doesn't get along with his mother, and he is also gay. Your sexual preferences doesn't define you as a person. I'm heterosexual but that doesn't define me as a person. No one would say, "Oh, he likes to have sex with girls," so why should it be the other way around?" Read more here ...

Where Gays Are On TV, GLAAD's Report

With the arrival of the 2007-2008 television season, the number of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) representations on scripted network television continues to decline, according to an analysis of the upcoming season conducted by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). The study shows that, despite improved quality, LGBT representations will represent only 1.1% (7) of all series regular characters in the 2007-08 broadcast television schedule, down from 1.3% (9) in 2006, and 1.4% (10) in 2005. For 12 years, GLAAD's "Where We Are on TV" report has analyzed the character makeup of the network's scripted programming. From information provided by the five broadcast networks — ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and The CW — GLAAD examined 87 scripted comedies and dramas announced to air this upcoming season, and counted a total of 650 characters. The seven LGBT regular characters appear on five scripted programs: Brothers & Sisters, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, The Office and the midseason series Cashmere Mafia. Six of these seven characters are on ABC, with no lead or supporting LGBT characters scheduled to appear on CBS, FOX or The CW. Cable programming and unscripted reality television, however, include numerous diverse representations that better reflect the LGBT community.

Mika & Sean Kingston for ABC's series

To help launch its new season, ABC is producing music videos for several of its new and returning shows, including "Ugly Betty," "Desperate Housewives," "Grey's Anatomy," "Dancing With the Stars" and "Brothers and Sisters." The videos - 11 are expected by the end of the season - will air on ABC.com and in some cases on such other platforms as iTunes, ABC Mobile and the network itself.
For the upcoming season of Ugly Betty, ABC produced a music video with British pop singer Mika, who re-recorded his hit single Big Girl (You Are Beautiful) with new lyrics. In the case of Desperate Housewives, ABC produced a music video to reggae youngster Sean Kingston's chart-topping Beautiful Girls. It wove clips from all the past seasons of the suburban soap with footage from the upcoming season and shots from Kingston's own music video. Wisteria Lane welcomes Gay Neighbors

According to TV Guide, it's not David Beckham and Robbie Williams, but this'll do. ABC's Desperate Housewives has tapped Tuc Watkins and Kevin Rahm to play Wisteria Lane's first gay couple in the show's season 4. Watkins will play Bob, described as a country mouse who leaves the big city for greener (and quieter) pastures. Rahm is his bitchy partner, Lee. Both roles are of the recurring variety. Watkins permanently joined the cast of One Life to Live in 2003 and had guest roles on shows such as Melrose Place, NYPD Blue, Six Feet Under, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Kevin Rahm is best known for his role as Kyle McCarty on the CBS series Judging Amy. He also appeared in the NBC sitcom Jesse. Desperate Housewives Season 1 and Season 2 are already available on DVDs, Season 3 is available on pre-order and will be released on September 4. Watch a music video for Season 4...

Beckham & Williams, to play Gays in DH?

Entertainment Wise reports that according to the show’s creator Marc Cherry, David Beckham is keen to play Robbie Williams’ gay partner on hit TV show Desperate Housewives. He picked out Robbie as perfect for the part over Becks’ pal tom Cruise – which is probably wise seeing as the Top Gun star is a bit touchy over the whole homosexual thing. “David and Robbie are perfect to star as the new neighbours' best friends; the gorgeous, eccentric couple flown over from Blighty. David's keen, but though the obvious choice was to work with Tom Cruise, we wanted someone who matches him in height and well, Britishness, so Robbie is the one", Cherry said. "They're both funny, game for a laugh and ridiculously macho, so it should work wonderfully. The English are pitch-perfect for sending themselves up."
