The Curiosity of Chance on DVD

The Curiosity of Chance is now available on DVD. It's the 1980's, when new wave angst and gender-bending fashion were all the rage. The new kid at school, Chance Marquis (Tad Hilgenbrinck of American Pie Presents: Band Camp and Lost Boys: The Tribe), however is out. And his being a gay, somewhat awkward teenager makes him the target of the school bully. To deal with this dilemma, Chance turns to the opposite ends of the high school spectrum for help. On one end is the flamboyant drag queen and at the other, the varsity jock, Levi Sparks (Brett Chukerman of Crush, Eating Out 2 and Fall of Hyperion) on whom Chance has a bit of a crush... Watch a trailer...

A hit at film festivals around the world, The Curiosity of Chance starring Tad Hilgenbrinck, Brett Chukerman, Chris Mulkey, Aldevina da Silva, Pieter Van Nieuwenhuyze and directed by Russell P. Marleau is now available on DVD.

The Curiosity Of Chance

An already 'out' and eccentric teenager recruits a bizarre circle of friends - made up of two oddball outcasts, a straight jock he's crushing on and a drag queen - to help him bring down the homophobic bully threatening his would-be peaceful, high-school existence.
"The opportunity to take this project from script to screen was a chance to try - in a single film - some of the things I've always loved about cinema. Creating and writing teen characters has always been fun for me and let's face it, high school is a microcosm of life," said director Russell P. Marleau. Watch a trailer...

Marco Dapper covers Frontiers Mag

Marco Dapper makes Frontiers magazine cover. The 23 year old actor is promoting "Eating Out 2, Sloppy seconds" U.S. release. (see previous post and pictures here and here )
Interviewed by Greg Hernandez about how the film affected his view on gays, Marco Dapper answered: "It was actually a real eye-opener for me. I wasn’t involved in the gay community at all. I wasn’t homophobic—I used to go to the Castro District for Halloween—but it was a touchy subject. I didn’t really know many gay people at all except for a few teachers. But I stated talking to the cast and getting to know everyone, and it opened my eyes to what the community is."

About how he enjoyed gay scenes, Dapper said: "I’m not gay and I don’t have tendencies, but I do make it believable. I’ve had guys say, “You’re gay, right? You looked like you were enjoying it.” I try to act and have the audience buy that. I learn the lines then throw them away so I can live in the moment, take in other people. I want to live in the moment and go off the other character." Concerning his now famous full-frontal scene, Marco Dapper said he didn't feel self conscious: "I am who I am. I think everyone should have confidence. I didn’t lose sleep over it."

Eating Out 2 in NY on Friday

"Eating Out 2, Sloppy Seconds" starring Jim Verraros, Marco Dapper (pictures above and below), Emily Brooke Hands, Brett Chukerman (pictures below), Rebekah Kochan... New York Quad Cinemas on Nov 24, Los Angeles Sunset 5 Theaters on Dec 8...

"I wanted to take the idea of people lying about their sexuality to the most logical and humorous conclusion," said Phillip J. Bartell, the director and co-writer of "Eating Out 2: Sloppy Seconds," about his sequel to Q. Allan Brocka's comedy hit from 2004.

This new film is more logical and funnier-and perhaps even sexier-than the first film because instead of a straight guy pretending to be gay to get the woman he wants, in this film, it is Kyle (Jim Verraros) who tries to act straight to get Troy (Marco Dapper, pictures above) the sexually ambiguous hunk of his dreams, says Gay City News. Eating Out 2 opens Reeling Film Fest

The Chicago Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival ranks as the second-oldest LGBT film festival in the nation and has grown to be the Midwest community's most regaled and anticipated cinematic event. To celebrate the landmark of their 25th anniversary, Reeling opens with another significant milestone in queer cinema: the first American sequel produced for a gay aesthetic, Eating Out Two: Sloppy Seconds, featuring the homegrown talent of director Phillip Bartell and actor Jim Verraros of American Idol fame (right picture), Emily Brooke Hands, Rebekah Kochan, Brett Chukerman, Scott Vickaryous, Marco Dapper, Nicholas James (left picture)... "I think the movie appeals to both gay and straight audiences because it addresses the issues of the pain and anguish sometimes associated with dating regardless of your sexual orientation”, says Jim Verraros. “And it does it an outrageously humorous way”. See the trailer below:
