Heinz Mayo Ad withdrawn for being Gay

A new Heinz mayonnaise TV commercial showing two men kissing has been withdrawn after more than 200 complaints in the UK, this is London reports. The ad was launched a week ago for five weeks. It shows a family scene with a young boy and girl getting ready to go to school refering to a man, dressed like a delicatessen worker and with a New York accent making sandwiches in the kitchen, as "mum". Viewers said it was "offensive", "inappropriate" and "unsuitable to be seen by children", while some parents were angry that they had been forced to explain same-sex relationships to their youngsters who asked them about the ad. Nigel Dickie, of Heinz UK, said: "The advertisement, part of a short-run campaign, was intended to be humorous and we apologise to anyone who felt offended." Watch the ad...

I Love My Boo Campaign

Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC) has launched two new public-service advertising campaigns to raise awareness about HIV for women of color (We're Not Taking it Lying Down) and young men of color who have sex with men (I Love My Boo). "These provocative new campaigns address rising HIV infection rates in two of the groups most directly impacted by focusing on the strength and resiliency of people of color within their communities," said Marjorie J. Hill, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer of GMHC. "They speak to individuals and communities in a language of love, respect, acceptance and sexual health — highlighting what is possible in intimate relationships instead of focusing on problems with negotiating safer sex and getting tested for HIV." The I Love My Boo campaign addresses young men of color by recognizing their relationships without shame. The campaign shows everyday images of young men embracing, kissing, and expressing their love for each other in public spaces. By emphasizing trust, respect and commitment, it shows that with love and self-love come responsibility — the basis for safer sex and HIV prevention. These ads appear on billboards, phone booths and other highly visible structures in areas of Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn where statistics show a disproportionately high rate of black MSM and women with HIV. Dr. Marjorie Hill, CEO of Gay Men's Health Crisis, hopes the ads will have an impact in reducing the epidemic's impact in these areas.

Madonna's Hard Candy Album

Madonna, whose new album "Hard Candy" is scheduled for an April 29 release, will debut her first single "4 Minutes" in a new Sunsilk commercial, announced today by Unilever. The pop artist and ever-changing chameleon and superstar originally appeared in the first Sunsilk "Life Can't Wait" Campaign alongside Marilyn Monroe and Shakira, but will now be the sole focus of the brand's new styling product spot that will debut on March 17. The spot will trace Madonna's ever-evolving look throughout the years as a means to inspire girls to play around with their current styles - with the help of the new Sunsilk styling aids - and will include the music of Madonna's new single "4 Minutes." "We are proud to unveil a powerful advertisement that features a truly inspirational icon along with our new styling products," said David Rubin, director of U.S. Hair Care Operations, Unilever. "Madonna continues to be such an inspiration for young girls by continuously reinventing her looks, and we expect the new commercial will also encourage girls to evolve by changing their looks and making their hair and lives happen in a variety of exciting ways." The "Life Can't Wait" Campaign launched during the broadcast of Super Bowl XLII on February 3 with a spot that featured three of the world's most iconographic females - Madonna, Shakira and Marilyn Monroe.
